US Coast Guard turns 222 years old today

The United States Coast Guard was founded on August 4th, 1790, making today its 222nd anniversary. As local boaters know, the US Coast Guard operates all over Boston, largely from their headquarters in the North End waterfront.  From large Cutters to small inflatable hull speedboats they are always out there keeping us safe, and have made many a daring rescue in rough weather offshore in recent years. Thanks to the USCG for keeping our shores safe!
